We rolled into Corvallis on a closed street in front of the downtown park. The park was filled with children in bathing suits playing in the fountain, people reading in the sun, and partners playing chess in the shade. We also had a line of people waiting to see the vehicles. We got situated and parked the refuelers (we're starting to get fast at this!) People kept us busy with questions and interest...Corvallis is a high-tech town and the questions kept us on our toes!

Mayor Charlie Tomlinson asked Ryan Harty from Honda and me how a city can prepare for hydrogen. Our advice was to educate the permitting officials, encourage the state to designate hydrogen as a transportation fuel and build support from the city council. We had a great discussion about using fuel cell buses as an anchor forĀ a station that could provide fuel for vehicles.

My favorite moment of the day was one I was too slow to catch on camera. A mom with two little girls in swimsuits caught water from the tailpipe of the the VW in their hands and drank it. Nothing says clean transportation like a two-year-old sipping tailpipe emissions!

Thanks to Ellen Derocher, Joan Wessel and the Downtown Corvallis Association for hosting this event.
