As you have likely heard by now, GM announced this morning that we have reached agreements with the U.S. Treasury and the governments of Canada and Ontario to accelerate our reinvention and create a leaner, stronger “New GM” positioned for a profitable, self-sustaining and competitive future. This is a historic day for GM and our country, as we begin using a court-supervised process to quickly launch a new, highly competitive company built upon only the strongest parts of our business. We’re here to stay – for our customers, employees, retirees, suppliers and dealers. We are open for business worldwide and will put customers first in all that we do. Customers can rely on their GM cars and trucks, service and warranty, as they always have. Since we are on the Hydrogen Road Tour, you may wonder what this means for hydrogen fuel cells. We are reinventing the automobile and our company, and will continue to invest in green, energy-saving technologies, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are a key part of that strategy. We continue to believe that hydrogen is a key to solving the nation’s mid-to-long term issues of energy security, reduced petroleum use and greenhouse gas emissions. There is significant progress being made in hydrogen research and vehicle development, and we have logged more than 750,000 miles in the industry’s largest demonstration fleet of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles on the road today, and this technology is important to GM’s reinvention. GM is on its way to becoming a new, leaner and fully competitive company. We will succeed and win by taking care of our customers everyday, It is exciting to be a part of this new chapter.
We are excited about the future of the New GM. For more information, please visit: www.gmreinvention.com
